How to Pray With Your Children in Everyday Life

Praying During Daily Activities (Car Rides, Errands, Playtime) 🚶‍♀️

Prayer doesn’t have to happen only at set times. You can weave it into everyday life.

👉Car rides: Pray for safety, upcoming events, or people who you’ll see that day.

👉Errands: Pray for store workers, neighbors, or the community.

👉Playtime: Teach children to thank God for joy, laughter, and friendship.

This kind of everyday prayer with children shows them that God cares about all parts of life — not just “church” time.

Scripture says:

“Pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”

(1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).

Bedtime Prayer Routines for Kids 🌙

Bedtime is one of the most powerful moments for family prayer. Children are often more reflective and open at night. My daughter loves praying for specific things. She has grown a passion for praying through each detail of her day when she’s in bed at night.

Bedtime Prayer Ideas for Kids

👉Thanksgiving prayer: “Thank You, God, for my family, my home, and today.”

👉Blessing prayer: Pray Scripture over your children, like Numbers 6:24–26: “The Lord bless you and keep you…”

👉Forgiveness prayer: Encourage kids to confess mistakes and receive God’s grace.

A consistent bedtime prayer routine helps children rest with peace and security in God’s presence.
