How I Found Strength in Jesus as a Single Mom After Trauma

There was a time when I felt like my world had completely shattered. As a single mom, raising children while carrying the weight of my own childhood trauma and the scars of domestic violence, I often wondered how I would handle another day. I carried the weight of not feeling sufficient for the role that God entrusted me with as their mother. I didn’t feel worthy.

But in the midst of that dark period of my life, I encountered the One who promised never to leave me nor forsake me: Jesus.

This is my testimony of how I found strength in Him as a single mom after trauma, and how you can too.

Facing Brokenness 🙏

Trauma has a way of stealing your breath. It doesn’t just happen in the moment, it lingers. It shows up in the sleepless nights, the anxiety over finances, the fear of making the wrong decisions for your children.

I carried the wounds of my past like invisible weights. There were days when I questioned whether I was strong enough, wise enough, or even deserving enough to be the mom who my children needed.

But Jesus met me in that brokenness. I was reminded that:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Even when I felt like a failure, God was near.
